My thoughts on exercise

Ok...remember (for you men out there) that I told you I am overweight. NO, this does not mean that I am "fat and lazy". How come people put those two words together?? People will probably call me fat but I seriously doubt they could call me lazy (well, I guess anyone can call me anything but that doesn't mean that I am). I prefer "fluffy" over fat but whatever. So, no, I can't go "skinny dipping" but I sure could go "chunky dunking".

Here are some questions and answers about health and exercise.

Q. I have heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A. Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it...don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q. Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A. You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. What are these? Vegetables. So, a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetable to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetables). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q. Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A. No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine - that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.

Q. How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A. Very simple. If you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q. What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A. Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosphy is: No Pain...Good!!

Q. So, Diane you are telling us you never have thoughts about exercise?
A. Yes, I do...but, I lay down and take a nap until the thoughts go away.

Q. Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A. I don't think someone is listening to me...Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q. Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A. Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q. Is chocolate bad for me?
A. Are you crazy??? Helloooooo!! Cocoa beans. Another vegetable. It's the best feel-good food around.

Q. Is swimming good for your figure?
A. If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q. Is getting "in shape" important for my lifestyle?
A. Hey! Round IS a shape.

I hope I have cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

One wise person once said, "bodies are like milk cartons, they all have expiration dates"; so, my philosphy is develop your mind. I think more people get into more trouble by opening their mouth without first using their mind.

Remember: Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; but, rather to skid in sideways - wine in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Whoa!! What a ride!!"

First Blog

Hello, this is my first blog (of hopefully many). I am hoping to help inform and educate all those wonderful single people out there in cyberspace. I am also hoping people will write in with questions about dating and relationships and I will do my best to answer with honesty and being straight-forward.

Ok, about myself. No, I am not a Dr. I just thought of this title - heard of Dr. Phil, well, I am Dr. Diane. I am a single woman. 52 years old. Scorpio. Red hair. Blue eyes. 5'6". Overweight (no, I am not telling you what I weigh - only my doctors know for sure. When I get more experienced with this thing, I will post my pic up. Was married for 20 years (more about that later if they allow me to talk like that) :). Been divorced for 11 glorious years. Have two children - Lisa, 27, who has given me two wonderful grandsons (more about them later), and Ben, 25, who I have put the mother's curse on and we don't want him having children (so thankfully he is single - but psst, ladies, he would make a good catch - but remember the mother's curse when considering having children with him) :)

In these 11 years of being single, I have had my fair share of dating - mostly freaks (so I am experienced in that field). But, as hope is always there in our hearts, I feel sure that if God wants me to have a man, He will send me a good one.

I am a firm believer in education and literacy. I have been in the education field for 28 years. I do have my Master's Degree.

But, the primary reason I am doing this is to help (especially men) in the dating field. Men have a lot to learn about women - just like women have a lot to learn about men. Hopefully, we will all learn through feedback.

So, if you have any questions about dating, please feel free to write me.
